We would like to inform you that Microsoft has announced that it is discontinuing support for Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10 as of Tuesday, January 12, 2016. This means that following a release of updates on January 12th, Microsoft will no longer release any further patches or security updates for those browsers, and will no longer provide any technical support for those browsers.
While these older browsers will continue to function after January 12th, continuing to use them comes with significant costs and risks, which will increase over time:
- These browsers will be vulnerable to future security threats such as viruses and malware. You will not be protected against these threats.
- Developers have already largely migrated their development efforts towards more recent browsers. Development resources for older browsers will become more scarce, and thus more expensive.
- Over time, you will find that fewer websites and products work properly (or at all) on these older browsers. This may impact your future LOB operations if they rely on these products.
- These browsers may not work on future versions of Microsoft Windows.
Microsoft and Solutia Consulting highly recommend that you update to Internet Explorer 11 as soon as possible to avoid incurring these risks.
